Meet the Owners
Jamey and Mara, both caregivers, met in 2014 and began a friendship. Both thriving in Santa Cruz by helping others live joyous and healthy lives, the spark between them grew into a flame. Mara and Jamey moved in together during Covid and began working as a management team for a retirement community with over 100 residents and 20 employees. This solidified their ability to work well together. They soon married. They have turned their passion for helping others towards pets. This shift evolved naturally and they couldn’t be more grateful to have found this calling in their lives.

Jamey grew up moving from place to place in a military family. For most of his adolescent life, he had musical aspirations as the lead vocalist for a rock band in South Florida. Some of his other passions include a love for all things comedy and an affinity for magic. When Jamey was 30 years old he moved to Santa Cruz to start a new life, sober from alcohol. For the past decade, he’s put his heart and soul into nurturing healthy relationships with families as a live-in caregiver.

Meet Mara, the heart of Loved By Us Santa Cruz Pet Sitting and Dog Walking. From Bakersfield to Santa Cruz her journey unfolded. She graduated w/ honors and a Business/Finance degree from UC Santa Cruz. Working as a caregiver throughout college ignited a deep passion for helping others. She became best friends w/ a young man who had special needs who she worked with for a decade. Along the way Mara found a deep love for yoga that transformed her life.
Mara, now a dedicated yoga teacher, finds joy in singing, meditation, and journaling. Her vibrant spirit and commitment to an active lifestyle infuse positivity into everything she does.
